Tips for traveling safely with medications

PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - The Perry County Memorial Hospital is offering tips for traveling safely with medications.

The hospital says it is important to talk to your pharmacist before you leave home about the proper precautions when traveling with medications.

Cover recommends a few extra steps in your travel plans such as:

  • Check medication bottles for risk of "photosensitivity," which can increase your chance of sunburn
  • Store medications in a cool, dry place and avoid direct sunlight because heat and humidity can affect the potency of medications
  • Do not leave medicine packed in a suitcase or vehicle trunk
  • Pack more medication than days you are planni
