Perry Co. children’s healthcare fund accepting applications

PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - Recently, Perry County Health System established a Children’s Healthcare Fund to benefit local children of Perry County with extensive healthcare needs.

An application process has been developed to facilitate the disbursement of the contributions received and Perry County Health System is now accepting applications until June 1.

Patrick Carron, President/CEO of Perry County Health System expressed his passion for the Children’s Healthcare Fund and stated, “It is heartbreaking to see so many children battle serious illnesses. During this time, their parents are under enormous stress for multiple reasons. Therefore, Perry County Health System established this fund to take some of the weight off of their shoulders and reduce the financial stress their family is facing.”

The 5KFVS Run/Walk will be May 18 in downtown Cape Girardeau, Mo.

This year, to celebrate the 5th year, we're adding a 12K!

37th Annual Old Timers Days May 25-26

PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - The River Hills Antique Tractor Club will hold the 37th annual Old Timers Days on May 25 and 26.

The event will be at the Seminary Picnic Grounds in Perryville, Mo. There will be antique tractors, cars and trucks on display as well as threshing, sawmilling, hay bailing, corn shelling and more.

Several area crafters will be there as well.

28th Annual Perryville Mayfest and Craft Fair May 10-11

PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - The 28th Annual Perryville Mayfest and Craft Fair will be May 10-11.

The theme will be "Peace, Love & Perryville." There will be a parade and music on Friday evening and a craft fair on Saturday.

Organizers say a carnival will be open May 8-11.

'Rural Missouri' magazine announces annual Readers' Choice awards

(KFVS) - For the 12th consecutive year, the readers of "Rural Missouri" magazine have selected their statewide favorites in the publication's annual Best of Rural Missouri Readers' Choice Contest.

Last year, readers overwhelmingly approved the return of a statewide format for the contest that asks them to name their favorite eateries, destinations and activities. For this year's edition of the contest, the format remained the same. "Rural Missouri's" editors had the task of tabulating entries from readers who offered their picks in 20 categories, ranging from "Best Restaurant" and "Best Burger" to "Best Small-town Museum" and "Best Theater." A winner, runner-up and editor's choice were named in each category.
