Catholic school partners with archdiocese to offer assistance | News
PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - A new assistance program offered by the Archdiocese of St. Louis will make access to the Catholic education more affordable for some this year, including 14 families at St. Vincent de Paul Elementary school.
According to SV, the "Alive in Christ!" scholarship program is part of Archbishop Robert J. Carlson's strategic plan for Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of St. Louis including St. Vincent's Elementary. The program was modeled to follow the example of Jesus Christ in His service to those in need and seeks to provide assistance to families (both Catholic and non-Catholic) who want to offer their children an education at a Catholic elementary school.
SV says the families, chosen by the archdocese, were contacted earlier this summer to be notified they had been chosen for financial support. Over $22,000 has been donated to SVES families from the educational foundation.
"Receiving this wonderful gift means my son can continue getting the good Catholic education that we want him to have," said Julie Anders.
The program is first come, first serve and is open to families with new students entering kindergarten through fourth grade or Catholic families with students currently attending a Catholic elementary school who are in kindergarten through eighth grade.
St. Vincent de Paul parish and schools say they offer numerous programs in addition to the "Alive in Christ!" Scholarship Program to help in making Catholic education affordable. For more information about enrollment or finance options available, you can contact Dr. Patricia Hensley, president of St. Vincent de Paul school system at 573-547-2560.
