St. Vincent de Paul welcomes new principal | People
PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - St. Vincent de Paul Elementary School is welcoming a new principal.
Tim Thompson has replaced Elaine Blair, who retired from the school at the end of the year after teaching for 31 years, 28 of those were spent at St. Vincent.
Thompson previously served as the St. Vincent High School Drama teacher from 2005 to 2006 before continuing on his educational career, but said the decision to return to St. Vincent's school system was easy to make.
"I loved St. Vincent's while I taught here," he said. "I always thought I'd like to come back to SV, but there was never an opening. I am glad Mrs. Blair gets to enjoy her retirement, but I am elated to have the opportunity to follow her at SV Elementary."
In addition to his time spent at St. Vincent's, he has held administrative and teaching roles in elementary through higher education institutions. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in speech communication and theatre. After teaching 18 years, he obtained his Masters and Specialist in Education degrees in educational administration and served as the elementary principal at Scott County Central in Sikeston. He has also served as a high school principal in northwest Missouri and most recently as the director of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff.
Thompson has already begun duties in his newly appointed position at the school. St. Vincent Elementary School will officially resume classes for 2012-13 school year on Thursday, Aug. 16.
