24-hour loan approval authorized for flood victims

24-hour loan approval authorized for flood victims

PERRY COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - State Treasurer Clint Zweifel authorized and launched 25-hour approvals of low-interest Missouri Linked Deposit Program loans in response to recent disasters in St. Louis and Southeast Missouri.

The loan approval process is known as the Harmed-area Emergency Loan Priority system or HELP.

After touring Mississippi County the past week, Treasurer Zweifel authorized HELP for use with all applications received from a qualifying borrower in a county impacted by the disaster.

Before authorizing HELP, the loan application wait time was 10 days for approval once a partner submitted a completed application.

“I know many Missourians will be able to make insurance claims, but after talking with folks in Mississippi County, there is a clear need for borrowed capital as well, and I can provide it with greatly reduced interest cost,” Treasurer Zweifel said.

FROHNA, MO (KFVS) - Saxon Lutheran Memorial is inviting the community to join in baking with their outdoor brick oven and have a chance to be an extra in a historical documentary.

The oven is usually ready to bake around 9:30 a.m., according to curator Lynda Lorenz, and she said she expects it to last until at least 12 p.m. because they are expecting a lot of people.

Things that bake well in the brick oven include: pizza, bread, rolls, brownies, muffins, casseroles, meat, cake, pie and pretzels.

Lorenz said they will keep the oven hot for any late-comers. Because two scout packs are expected to camp their over the weekend, she said they will probably use the oven later in the evening.

Lunch will be served.
