SV Endowment Fund donation upgrades technology | Schools

PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - The St. Vincent Centennial Endowment Fund recently made a major donation that has upgraded technology used by St. Vincent High School students for years to come.

SV Foundation board members unanimously voted to approve a project that has now equipped the high school with an advanced mobile computer lab. The cart is complete with 30 laptops with wireless access, a wireless access point, a wireless printer/scanner and a mobile charging cart that hold the 30 laptop units. Board members presented Dr. Patricia Hensley, president of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Schools, with the cart prior to the start of the school year.

"The endowment fund is a separate account of the educational foundation and it has the ability to receive any and all property, including real estate, stocks, bonds and other securities by gift, will, bequest, charitable trust, charitable gift annuity and life insurance," explained Lori Carroll, a board member for the fund.

The school says the new lab will replace aged computers and will provide students with the technology needed to better prepare them for the demands of college and the workforce.

The funding campaign for the organization that made this project possible kicked off in June 2007.

Carroll said those who have given to the endowment do so with the understanding that the principal cannot be touched, only the interest earned can be used from their charitable donation. By September 2008, the initial deposit was made and then invested.

"This is the foundations first donation," said Carroll. "We plan on having many more but we have to see what the future of the market will be."

The SV Endowment Fund was originally created by Fr. Kevin Fausz in 2007 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the high school. The purpose was to provide general support for the operation and programs of SVHS which includes, but is not limited to, tuition assistance by the internet accrued from charitable donations.
